I have been renting houses for 30 years in Vila Odette and the experience has been very enriching. We have already received guests from many countries and we always feel that we have gained a lot from this experience. As an example, let me mention the enriching experience I once had with a French couple who were reading ''Mau Tempo no Canal'', by Vitorino Nemésio, whose narrative takes place in the 19th century Horta, and in which we discussed the 19th century Faial society, a challenge for me, forcing me to explore a story I had read for a long time and I like to discuss it with someone who wanted to know our land better.
Vila Odette is the perfect place to rest during a long vacation or for telecommuting, a unique place to read a book or to work, contemplating Pico mountain, the sea, the canal, the blue in contrast with the green of the gardens, on a covered terrace, where the rain can fall without getting wet.

As tarefas que executo na preparação do alojamento para os meus clientes é também o meu hoby: combinar as cores para uma melhor apresentação das roupagens do quarto de dormir, da casa de banho e da mesa onde irão fazer as refeições, faço-o com muito gosto e prazer, como se tivesse a receber amigos de longa data. Preparar os jardins na Primavera para que os clientes usufruam dos verdes e do colorido das flores é outro prazer. Ter constituído uma varanda/alpendre onde podem disfrutar da vista, do jardim e duma boa leitura, mesmo quando chove, num clima ameno como o nosso, mas onde a chuva é imprevisível, é uma das exigências que faço ao meu marido arquitecto, para que o nosso alojamento proporcione aos nossos clientes este privilégio de permanecer ao ar livre mesmo quando chove. Falar com os clientes, sobre a Vila Odette e algumas curiosidades, quando se torna evidente que os clientes o desejam, posso passar horas à conversa, falando inglês e francês como línguas estrangeiras.
É também um hoby, colher alguns frutos do jardim e fazer marmeladas que também por principio ofereço aos clientes, e é com muito gosto que os observo ao pequeno almoço a degustar das minhas marmeladas.

The tasks I perform in the preparation of accommodation for my clients is also my hobby: combining the colors for a better presentation of the clothes in the bedroom, bathroom and table where they will have their meals, I do it with a lot taste and pleasure, as if receiving longtime friends. Preparing the gardens in spring so that customers can enjoy the green and colorful flowers is another pleasure. Having built a balcony/porch where you can enjoy the view, the garden and a good read, even when it rains, in a mild climate like ours, but where the rain is unpredictable, is one of the demands I make of my architect husband, so that our accommodation provides our guests with the privilege of staying outdoors even when it rains. Talking with customers about Vila Odette and some interesting facts, when it becomes evident that customers want it, I can spend hours chatting, speaking English and French as foreign languages.
It's also a hobby, picking some fruits from the garden and making marmalades, which I also offer to customers, dependng the production,, and it's with great pleasure that I watch them at breakfast, enjoying my marmalades.
