Umeblowane mieszkania na miesiące – Budapeszt
I am a Norwegian writer who, in the late nineties, walked with her camera in old Budapest in and heard Hungarian jazz, folk and Roma music as well. I was drawn in. I was able to buy my writers nest there in 1999 and since then, I have spent a period every year in the flat. I will continue using the flat every year. I now need to rent out for 8–9 months a year in order to support artistic grassroots efforts in Asia, see below. I write poetry, novels, sometimes non–fiction and I have translated poetry from English, French, German and Bengali.
My anti–war commitment as well as my connection with nature and non–violent resistance cannot be broken.
I have, with local artists and children, co–founded two artistic grassroots projects in Bangladesh and eastern India: for spiritual folk music in Bangladesh and for painting with plant pigments in eastern India. My renting out is for them.
Csaba, a graphic designer and guitarist with a voice, lives in the neighbourhood of my Budapest nest. He is reliable and, within certain limits, reachable and he knows my nest. He has my power of attorney. And he has the keys. (He has my Power of Attorney too. With him, English and Hungarian are the linguistic tools. Practical decisions must be made with him as I will be far away, in the north (Norway) or in the South–East (India and Bangladesh). I will always do my best to respond quickly, with a simple yes, or with a couple of question. If there is a delay in my response, it means I am out of the zone of wifi. Should that happen, please give me a second chance.
I spend about three months every year in South–Asia and still want to spend quiet writing time in this precious place in Budapest. That is why the flat will not be sold right away.
